I have studied various martial arts over a span of nine years. I also currently work as a police officer. I have participated in running, weight lifting, P90X, crossfit, etc. but there is a HUGE and glaring difference between traditional fitness and combat fitness. I have never been so physically exhausted as I was during my first day at Krav Maga. If you are serious about no BS training for an actual combat situation with no Hollywood frills, I highly recommend Reno Krava Maga.- Google User
I have been training at RENO KRAV MAGA for about 5 months now, and I am in the best shape of my life and have never had more self-confidence. Even just dealing with daily problems seems less stressfull. Master Kovacich is an absolutly outstanding instructor. He knows exactly how to break everything down so that the students are able to quickly learn the proper techniques needed to defend themselves against larger, stronger and even multiple attackers. This is, in my opinion, the most effective training you can get if you wish to survive a violent encounter. If you want to be in great shape, and have no fear, even while walking through the worst parts of town, then RENO KRAV MAGA is for you.- Google User
After having had enough of being overweight and dealing with the constant pain from various automobile accidents on top of being over weight, I decided to look into a form of exercise. I did not have much success with the traditional forms of exercise and decided to look into the martial arts. I figured that going to a martial arts class would be a way I could learn how to defend myself from attacks while loose the excess weight at the same time. I checked around to the different martial arts schools in Reno and Sparks, and found that Reno Krav Maga was the best fit for me. Reno Krav Maga focuses mainly on realistic and practical self-defense from various situations. It uses different parts of; Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Aikido, Judo, Jujitsu, wrestling, boxing, etc. The idea behind Krav Maga and the different techniques is that if a 90 pound woman cannot do them, they are not accepted into the school. With that thought in mind, me being overweight and having various injuries, I should be able to perform the exercises. I have now been a student for over six months and I cannot believe the change in me. I find that stressful situations that would overwhelm me now don’t bother me as much. My endurance is increasing along with my strength, speed, and flexibility. Also, my recovery time after the endurance tests is a lot better. I am now more aware of my surroundings and have learned to trust my instincts more. I also feel more confident about myself and being around others. I highly recommend Reno Krav Maga for those that are looking for a serious self-defense class (men and especially women) or even for those looking for a good form of exercise with added benefits. The instructor is wonderful. He knows what he is teaching and how to modify it to everyone’s level of activity and ability. This is one class that you will enjoy and will excel from. Be sure and check this out, in my opinion, it is the best thing that you could do for yourself, your significant other, your children, and even your friends.- J.E.B.
Our instructor, Shawn, is an excellent teacher. He is very patient and teaches us proper technique. I've never been interested in taking a martial arts class until I moved last year to Reno. This class teaches you so much if you are willing to put in the time. It teaches you endurance, proper technique, self-confidence, and awareness of your surroundings. - Lynn Hurrle
